Rebranding yourself isn’t easy and with New Year right about the corner everyone is looking for ways to better themselves for 2023. That’s why this week, we’re talking re branding yourself, being aware of your “season” and embracing whatever it may be right now.
First things first, what is a “ brand “ even? Well the dictionary version is:
Brand
/brand/
noun
A brand is a product, service or concept that is publicly distinguished from other products, services or concepts so that it can be easily communicated and usually marketed Branding is the process of creating and disseminating the brand name, its qualities and personality.
Some people think that you’re only supposed to rebrand once December/January and that’s it. You know the “new year, new me” post with the bag lady stepping over the the bricks? Yeah, its that time of year again and I’m here to say let that lady rest this year. Truth be told, you should rebrand multiple times a year. Rebrands are something that should be consistently happening. You should be steady evolving, getting to know yourself better and with that comes the need to rebrand. Once you start feeling unfulfilled or you realize that what you’re doing doesn’t align with where you want to be, it’s time for a rebrand.
Ironically enough, in order to rebrand you have to first realize what “season” you’re in. Are you in a high season? low? overwhelming? Your season of confusion or heartbreak? Or is this your season of success and abundance? Embracing your season is important because it means accepting that tough times don’t last forever, tough people do. Just because you embrace a negative feeling doesn’t mean your happy with it, it just means you mature enough to understand the only way out is through. Turn those seasons of confusion, uncertainty and heartbreak into lesson that contribute to helping you grow. If you’re in a good season then cherish it, be grateful and and bask in it. Each season presents us with new opportunities, embrace them and the benefits they can potentially offer you. We have to be tested in life or else we will never truly fulfill our purpose. Finding light in our afflictions isn’t easy but trust that the universe wouldn’t give you more than you can handle.
I don’t know about you guys but I want to love and live my life! I want to love and live through all parts of it because I understand that the woman I’m becoming, the person I’ll be in 5, 10 years is going to be so much better because of it. I also understand that you have to let go of the old you to reach your true destiny. It’s easy to become stuck or comfortable with your current situation so you have to ask yourself, “ what am I willing to give up to become who I want to be?” You can’t unlock new doors with old keys, your new life will cost you your old one, whatever cliché quotes you want to use, use it and start your journey to becoming the best version of yourself.
I want everyone to win and be the best version of ourselves. In the words of Biggie, “ we can’t change the world until we change ourselves.” So, here are five tips for rebranding the new year and beyond.
- Upgrade yourself. Decided the type of woman, man, or they that you want to be and show up as that person everyday. Don’t like your style? Go through your wardrobe and decide what you can give away or sell and start transforming your closet piece by piece. Change your hair up. Get that new color or cut. Want a jet black 30” bust down middle part? Do it, you bad bitch you. Want to lose weight or get in shape? Start working out. Whatever upgrading your life means for YOU, do it.
- Get a role model/ influence Having someone that you look up to is key. Whether it’s someone you know or a complete stranger that you follow on instagram. Me personally, there’s a few people that influence me. For starters, my sister who has also taken the role of being my accountability partner. When I’m looking for a boss, I don’t have to look very far. She’s organized as hell and also seems to have her shit together even when life seems chaotic. Aside from her I do follow a few Instagram/ Tik Tok/ YouTube girlies ( and guys) who inspire me daily to be my best self (Kylashaii, Lynette Adkins, De’arra, HINDZ, just to name a few) All of these people I named, including my sister, reflect who I want to be as a person. Their energy radiates off of them and it makes me feel good. I want to make other people feel the way they make me feel. someone that can be looked up to.
- Be limitless. Don’t be afraid to do something or go somewhere that you’ve been too scared or that you feel like you don’t belong. Break every box you might’ve had yourself in for years. Get uncomfortable! The whole purpose of rebranding or reinventing yourself is to push yourself to the next level and beyond. Make a list ( we love a good list) and write down three things that you want to do or places you want to go that are completely out of your comfort zone and then do it without questioning yourself.
- Set boundaries + guidelines for yourself Setting boundaries and guidelines for yourself is important. It’s a big part of where your rebranding is going to stem from. Honor YOUR needs. Tell yourself you won’t allow anyone else’s energy to affect your energy, or that you’ll only smoke AFTER you’ve accomplished a certain amount of tasks for day, no screen time past 11pm. You can even get deeper into it and say you’ll be abstinent until you find someone who checks off all your boxes. Setting boundaries and guidelines for yourself helps with gaining discipline and consistency so whatever it is, just do it.
- Journal. Journal. Journal. I feel like I say this in almost every blog post but journaling is really a staple in becoming who you want to be. This time is a little different though. This time, write down all the areas you feel as though you need to improve or struggle in. Evaluate your emotions and personal life, relationships whether they be romantic or with friends and family, your work and your business. Then work on turning those struggles you listed into strengths.
Ultimately, your brand is who you want to be but mostly who other people see you as? What energy do you want to put out into the world? The person you are should speak so loudly that you don’t ever have to.
Sincerely, Shadaé
